Aatom,

You're a relic after my own heart. I agree that the best way to read someone's work is to go to their site and see it in the context of the design that the author has created. But, alas, time and tide (and tech) wait for no man and the conversation is fragmenting among the new platforms that use our stuff to create new communities. You gotta' get on board and try and make it work for you.

There are advantages, as I wrote about in The Brand Called Who? -- dissemination of your ideas through new channels and the opportunity to meet up with people you never would've met otherwise. And there's the convenience factor.

Now come on and jump into that RSS pool, the water's actually not bad.

Very compelling. I'm still not sure how this saves me all that much time. I read a handful of sites every day, maybe 10-20, and they shift according to my mood. I use my own blogroll as a jumping off point and spend an hour or so sifting through my favorites. Each site has its own unique voice, and more importantly what I feel rss is missing is the look and feel of the site. Websites are like mini-magazines, and deserve to be appreciated in their intended form, as far as I'm concerned. Again, I'm a tad old-fashioned, I'm afraid. But you are, as always, a witty and charming guru, Mr. Rat.
