First look: Heath Ledger as The Joker

Harry Knowles over on Ain’t it Cool News broke the story on a [viral marketing campaign] that Warner Bros. has started to introduce Heath Ledger’s Joker from The Dark Knight to the world. I’ve been itching for news about what he would do with the part, being a big honkin’ fan of him, Christian Bale and Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins. If this pic (after the jump) is any indication, it’s going to be gooooooood.
I wish I knew how to quit you… ’cause you’re scaring the crap out of me.

God that’s a freakish image … but yes, I’m hopeful as well. Though really, that graphic novel is such a classic – it will be hard to live up to in film.

Look, if I wanted to watch a terrible ripoff of a great villain, I’d play kingdom hearts and fight sephiroth over and over. This is absolutely pathetic. I bet Heath Ledger’s “Vision” is gonna be carried onto the screen with this, and make the joker himself the biggest joke the joker can make. With the bad acting, haphazard makeup and dark direction of any of Nolan’s other movies… I really doubt even a single laugh will fight its way past Ledger’s mouth. and that is a sad, sad, day.

Jimses – give it a chance, dude. Granted The Dark Knight is a lot to shoot for and could fall flat, but Bale and Ledger are sure to offer something we haven’t seen in the previous feeble attempts to bring the story to the screen. I’m up for it.

Heath Ledger? Playing The Joker?
I like Heath. He’s a cool dude. And he’s not a bad actor.
But Playing The Joker? I’m afraid he’s gonna mess up after Jack Nicholson did a masterful job playing the part.
Like the guy above me said, I don’t think Heath will be able to pull off the whole psycho act. With the twisted smiles and laughs and all.
In my opinion, redoing the whole Batman thing was a bad idea anyway…

For starters… the ‘Batman’ movies of the 90’s.. where NOT good movies and NOT like the comics, and although Jack is a good actor, he was not a good joker at all, because it was nothing like the joker from the comics and he was way too old for the part.
All four of those batman movies, where just movies with a dude in a bat suit, the only movie to actually get who batman is, was Batman Begins, and I fully expect Nolan, Bale too do it again with Dark Knight.

Matt, Aaron Eckhart will play District Attorney Harvey Dent who will become Two-Face.
As somebody else mentioned — I hope they avoid the supervillain clutter of Spiderman 3 and don’t load it up too much.

I think Ledger will do a fine job, think about it, if he wasn’t good for the part then he wouldn’t have GOT the part.
And I have my theory on what they will do with Dent in this movie, they will probably end the movie with his change into two-face. just like how they ended the first movie, they will have enough room open for a third.
