Hurricane Destroys Property, Penis

An AP wire story has been picked up by [ABC News], among others, claiming that over $1B in fraud was perpetrated against FEMA by bogus claims for disaster relief following Katrina — including federal taxpayer funds used to pay for some guy’s sex change. His manhood now lies somewhere over the rainbow (ewww!). Those FEMA guys can’t catch a break — damned if they don’t, damned if they do.

  1. I have a neighbor who is a Katrina survivor. She owned a half-million dollar home on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain and basically woke up to the realities of the Bush administration’s incompetence. Her insurance company refused to cover her for the hurricane and told her to seek help from FEMA. FEMA told her she wasn’t going to be able to get help from them, and to keep trying for help from her insurance.

Finally, she was able to get help from a real estate developer in the area who offered her $45,000 for her property. She took it because she had nothing left.

I had a long talk with her about how her whole experience tied back to Bush, and how those developers were out there to take advantage of a huge land-grab – because they knew she’d be desperate enough to accept their low-ball offer.

Oh, and she was also required to sign a waiver before accepting their cash, requiring her to promise she’d never sue them or the federal government for screwing her over.

I guess it takes a lot for people to finally wake up, doesn’t it?

It didn’t matter whether or not you were rich or poor before the hurricane/flood, but it sure did make everyone equal afterward when they were all told they weren’t allowed access to help.
